What is Python?

Python is a versatile and easy-to-learn programming language that emphasizes code readability and simplicity. It is an interpreted language with dynamic semantics and comes with built-in data structures, making it a popular choice for a wide range of applications, from web development to data science and machine learning.

It was created by Guido van Rossum in the late 1980s with the aim of making programming easy and enjoyable. The language is named after the British comedy group Monty Python, which was a favorite of the creator. Python’s popularity has grown rapidly over the years, and it has become one of the most widely used programming languages today.

Its syntax allows programmers to write fewer lines of code compared to some other programming languages. Through python, complex problems can be solved easily in less time with fewer lines of code.

Python programs run on an interpreter’s system so prototyping is quickly done. It is open source which means it is free of cost. Python is compatible with many platforms like windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi, and many others

Python is currently available in version 3, which is the most recent major release of the language. Python is released under an open-source license that is compatible with the GNU General Public License (GPL), which means that the language can be used, modified, and distributed freely by developers.
