The gig economy and freelancing are becoming increasingly popular. Countries all over the world are assisting corporations and freelancers in obtaining the greatest business opportunities. Freelancers are drawn to locations that provide the highest financial opportunities.
Thanks to Wi-Fi, video, and messaging services, a freelancer may now live and work from any place. As a result, certain countries with a high share of freelancers have risen to become the top freelance countries in 2021.
As a result of the freelance revolution, certain countries have developed a reputation for having excellent freelancers in specific fields. Following the United States, the United Kingdom and Brazil are the world’s largest side-gig economies. With a 47 percent growth in freelancer earnings over the previous year, Pakistan led the Asian surge.

1- USA:-
Earnings for freelancers in the United States have risen dramatically from 10% to 78 percent, making it the greatest in the world by far. In the United States, around 57 million people work as freelancers. Up to 50% of employment in the United States is suitable for remote work, and 80% of employees say they would prefer to work from home.
2- UK:-
With a 59 percent increase in revenue year over year, the UK joins the US at the top of the freelancing countries table in 2019. In the last year, the number of freelancers in the UK climbed by 31%.
3- Brazil:-
For the first time in 2019, Brazil’s freelancer revenue increased by 48 percent, propelling it into the top ten countries for freelancers.
4- Pakistan:-
In the last year, the number of Pakistani freelancers has increased dramatically, from 4% to 42%, retaining its position as the fourth best country for freelancers in 2019.
This expansion has been powered primarily by Pakistani youth, thanks to a time of government investment in improving their digital abilities, as well as a young population (70 percent of the population is under 30 years old).
5- Ukraine:-
Ukraine is known for creating specialists in the IT business for freelancing because of the country’s high percentage of IT students. Ukraine’s freelancer revenue has increased by 36% in the last year, owing to the country’s high percentage of IT university graduates.
6- Philippines:-
Because of the low prices charged by freelancers in the Philippines, it has been one of the top 10 freelance countries for several years.
7- India:-
In the 2019 ranking of the top 10 freelance countries, India has fallen a few spots. It used to be number one in the world for freelancers, but a revenue increase of 29% this year has it in seventh place.
8- Bangladesh:-
Bangladesh, a long-time leader in the freelancing sector, has fallen a few spots in the 2019 top freelance countries list. Its revenue increased by 27% in 2019, just a smidgeon less than India’s.
9- Russia:-
The average freelance compensation of $600 per month is currently more than the average local salary, according to a local survey. In Russia, freelancing revenue climbed by 20% in the last year, indicating that freelancers are making more money.
10- Serbia:-
Serbia is gaining a reputation for having excellent freelance programmers and developers. Companies such as GoDaddy, Microsoft, and Adobe have chosen to base their operations there. In 2019, freelancer revenue is expected to increase by 19 percent.
Given that 70% of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 30, the country has enormous potential for freelance services. Pakistan was placed fourth in Payoneer’s current rankings for freelance markets, far ahead of India and Bangladesh. People under the age of 34 earned 77 percent of the profits made by Pakistani freelancers, according to the survey. KPK and Punjab’s e-employment freelancing initiative is boosting the economy and lowering unemployment. Through the internet, a website development company and 12,000 young people who graduated from e-jobs have earned Rs 14 crore.
